PREPARATION
Please prepare a short song in the style of the show (standards, traditional music theatre, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin etc.) No contemporary music theatre songs will be accepted. No a cappella auditions will be accepted. A pianist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. Please bring a picture/resume to auditions.

PRINCESS ANN
20’s-early 30’s. A European Princess from an unnamed country, on tour in Rome. Beautiful, cultured & winning. Frustrated with her rigid schedule & tightly controlled life, she longs to experience the freedom of a “normal girl. Through the course of the show she experiences an impossible love and grows into a confident, strong leader. Legit Soprano.
JOE BRADLEY
Early 30’s- early 40’s. An expatriate American reporter, based in Rome and frustrated with what he considers a tabloid writing gig. Handsome, appealing & kind. He is charming with a wry sense of humor. A ladies' man for most of his life, he discovers real love for the first time. Bari-tenor.
IRVING
Late 20’s-30’s. A wise cracking American photographer stationed in Rome. Funny, appealing and perpetually in (and out) of love with Francesca, due to his intense fear of commitment. Seeking a strong comedic actor who sings. Tenor.
FRANCESCA
Late 20’s-30’s. A gorgeous Italian nightclub singer, prone to exaggeration (and occasional hysterics). Funny, smart & warm, she is seeking an engagement from Irving, and is frustrated by his constant waffling. Seeking a strong comedic actress with a great voice. Belt.
COUNTESS
Late 40’s up. The Princess’ aunt and chaperone. She keeps the Princess on a short leash and takes her responsibilities to the Princess and crown seriously. However, she cares deeply for the Princess and wants to see her happy. Prone to sharing long, amusing stories. She is funny, astute and warm, but doesn't suffer fools gladly. Seeking a strong actor. Minimal singing required.
HENNESSY
Late 40’s up. The curmudgeonly editor of the American news outlet Joe is employed by. Seeking a strong character actor. Minimal singing required.
