Prepare a contemporary musical theatre or pop song with an indie rock feel that shows range. Bring sheet music for your song; a piano accompanist will be provided.

Breakdown
SYNOPSIS:
Deep in the elbow of Ragnar Agnarsson, furniture painter, sits Elbowville, where we find three brothers, Peter, Alex and Stein, living in perfect harmony until Peter and Alex fall in love with the same girl, the beautiful and charismatic Brynja. After a brotherly showdown, Alex leaves town while Peter stays in Elbowville where he becomes rich and powerful. It is when Alex returns from exile that things heat up in the family creating conflict that shakes Elbowville to its core.
SEEKING ALL ETHNICITIES
ALEX
(Male, early 20’s – mid 30’s): Indie rock type with a rebellious nature. In a constant battle with his own inferiority complex and over-reliance on others. In love with Brynja. Anti-establishment. Along with Peter he is the protagonist of the story. Strong singer (D3 – E4); tap dancing required. Actors who play any musical instrument a bonus.
PETER
(Male, mid 20’s – 40): Handsome, brimming with self-confidence and ambition though tends to act without thinking. Has the image of a reliable banker-type. Along with Alex he is the protagonist of the story. Strong singer (Eb3 – A4); tap dancing required; guitar players encouraged.
BRYNJA
(Female, 20’s – 30’s): Kind, sensible and pretty, but struggles with believing in herself and her own feelings. In love with Alex, but marries Peter. Indie / folk / pop voice (G3 – D5); competent mover, excellent tap dancing required.
MANUELA
(Female, 30’s – mid 40’s): Strong, political, sexy and self-assured. A man-eater. Head of the village, her position of power has strengthened her already ample self-confidence. Her ambition is to prove she is the greatest leader in Elbowville’s history. Strong singer with a high belt (Ab3 – Ab4) ; Legit musical theater voice. Good movement skills a plus.
KOLBEIN
(Male, mid 30’s – mid 50’s): A bear of a man – 6’4” and taller. Manuela’s lover. Confident in appearance, but in reality he is submissive to Manuela’s larger-than-life personality. Appears strong and masculine, but has a yielding personality. Sings (F3 – F4); Excellent comedy skills.
ASRUN
(Female): Smart, kind, funny and quirky; Married to Stein; Comedic skills a must. Singer (F#3 – C5); tap dancing required.
STEIN
(Male, early 30’s – 40): Brother of Peter and Alex. A simpleton and family man who takes no risks. Singer (D3 – A4); Comedic skills a must; Strong tap dancing required. Actors who play any musical instrument a bonus.
