PREPARATION
Dancing auditions: Please be warmed up and ready to dance when the call begins. Wear appropriate dancewear and have character shoes. Some may be asked to stay and sing after all have danced. Please prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre song. Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided, but will not transpose.
Bring picture and resume.

SHREK

1st rehearsal: June 18, 2017. 1st Performance: July 5, 2017. Closes: July 23, 2017 (possible extension to July 30, 2017).
SHREK:
Male. 25-45. Bari-Tenor. An ogre who lives alone in a stinky, secluded swamp. He is grumpy, smelly but becomes the surprising hero of this fractured fairytale. Looking for a strong comic actor with a “legit” style of singing.
PRINCESS FIONA:
Female. 20-30. Soprano with solid belt/mix. Not your run-of-the-mill fairy tale princess. She is NOT demure but rather feisty and crass. She has been locked in a tower since childhood waiting for her Prince.
DONKEY:
Any Gender. Any Age. Pop-Tenor. Lovable, lively, devoted, and very chatty. He has a pure heart of gold and vows to follow Shrek on his adventures after Shrek saves his life. Looking for a strong, fearless physical actor.
LORD FARQUAAD:
Male. 25-45. Baritone. The ruthless, ambitious, and self-absorbed ruler of Duloc. He suffers from a serious Napoleon-complex and takes t out on everyone.
DRAGON:
Female. 25-35. Pop-Alto. A soulful, ferocious guardian of Princess Fiona known for burning potential suitors to ashes with her fiery breath. Looking for a strong, fearless physical actor. Will double as various ensemble characters throughout the play.
GINGY:
Female. Any Age. Soprano/Countertenor. Gingy is a sweet and earnest gingerbread man in peril, held captive and tortured by Lord Farquaad. Must be comfortable with a high-pitched character voice. Will double as various ensemble characters throughout the play.
THREE LITTLE PIGS (3):
Male. Any Age. Baritone. The Three Little Pigs are fairy tale creatures who live in Duloc, and are being evicted from their homes. Must have a comically believable German accent. Will double as various ensemble characters throughout the play.
MALE ENSEMBLE:
Male. 25-35. All vocal ranges. Looking for five to six strong triple threats character actors, to play various creatures and characters in and around Duloc. All are a little “freaky” and need to be able to sing solo and parts.
FEMALE ENSEMBLE:
Female. 25-35. All vocal ranges. Looking for three to four strong triple threats character actors, to play various creatures and characters in and around Duloc. All are a little “freaky” and need to be able to sing solo and parts.

MR. BODDY:
Male. 30-40. Soaring Bari-Tenor. The charismatic and playful host of the game. Also the husband of Mrs. Peacock and the victim of the murder. Loves to crack jokes and regularly interacts with audience and characters.
MRS. PEACOCK:
Female. 35-50. Mezzo-Belt. Sexy, manipulative socialite and chair of Peacock Enterprises. Married to Mr. Boddy and cheating with Col. Mustard. Suspected in the murder of five previous husbands
COLONAL MUSTARD:
Male. 40-50. Baritone. He fancies himself a triumphant war colonel and is secretly having an affair with Mrs. Peacock. He was married to Mr. Boddy's mother after the death of her husband. Pompous and randy.
MISS SCARLET:
Female. 25-35. Mezzo-soprano with Belt. A former Las Vegas lounge performer and former lover of Mr. Green. She is a shrewd vixen and easily seductive.
MR. GREEN:
Male. 25-35. Bari-Tenor. A slick, delightful wheeler-dealer con artist and entrepreneur. He is a former lover of Miss Scarlet and business partner of Mr. Boddy.
PROFESSOR PLUM:
Male. 25-40. Baritone. An astute intellectual and super genius, author and imposter. His family fortune was ruined by Mr. Boddy.
MRS. WHITE:
Male. 35-50. Wide-vocal range. Mrs. White is the fun loving, chief domestic of the Boddy Manor. Probably cockney? She is played by a man in the tradition of English pantomime.
DETECTIVE:
Female. 25-35. Wide vocal range. A hard-nosed, humorous, smart, attractive detective who arrives to help solve the murder.
