Each member has 3 minutes to audition.

Prepare material of your choice (including, if you wish, selections from the season’s repertoire). For those who wish to perform a scene, a reader will be available. State your starting and stopping places.

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

New Repertory Theatre will also be attending Stage Source AEA Auditions on 4/13/15 from 10-6pm at the Boston Center for the Arts, 539 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02116.

CHARLES MOSESIAN THEATER:

BROKEN GLASS
by Arthur Miller.

Seeking:

SYLVIA GELLBURG:
40s-50s. Suffers from paralysis of the legs, caused by an unknown source, confined to a wheelchair. Obsessed with reading about the Nazis in the newspaper. Jewish. Conflicted about her relationship with her husband.

DR. HARRY HYMAN
50s. Healthy, rather handsome Jewish man. Determined scientific idealist. Doctor of Sylvia Gellburg, whom he is also attracted to.

MARGARET HYMAN
40s-50s. Lusty, energetic. Has moxie and a boisterous laugh. Married to Dr. Hyman. Not Jewish.

HARRIET
late 30s-early 40s. Younger sister of Margaret Hyman. Cares deeply for her sister

STANTON CASE
50s-60s. Phillip’s employer. Possesses a great natural authority, an almost childishly naïve self-assurance. Owns a yacht.

(Role CAST). 50s. Intense, proud businessman, married to Sylvia. Conflicted about his Jewish background. Desperately in love with his wife.

Seeking

SALTER
Male, early 60s. Genetically the father to a number of identical men. A morally corrupt man, he looks for companionship in his sons but is hesitant to be honest about his past wrongdoings. He believes in nurture over nature and blames himself for B1’s disposition.

BERNARD (B1)
Male, 40. Salter’s original son. He was neglected by Salter as a child and is quite bitter and vengeful. Same actor as B2 and MICHAEL.

BERNARD (B2)
Male, 35. Salter’s son and clone of B1. Unlike his older twin, he was treated well by his father as a child. He is reasonable and understanding but has a breaking point. Same actor as B1 and MICHAEL

MICHAEL BLACK
Male, 35. Another clone of B1, but not raised by Salter. A mathematics teacher with a wife and three children, he has an easy disposition and finds delight in science. Same actor as B1 and B2.

Female, 20s – 40s. A bird. She’s sharp, change averse, and a problem solver.

GRAY MOLE
Male, 20s – 40s. A mole. He is blind, feeling his way, and would rather dig than anything, including interact with others.

The following role has been CAST:

VIVIAN AVERY
(Role CAST) Female, 40s-50s. She is an exercise in poise that may be a bit frayed at the edges, but she’s fighting to keep everything “just so.” Her hair is perfect, her skirt is perfect, her silk blouse looks expensive, but her pumps look comfortable. Her sarcasm is cut with a light Southern accident. Years of success, meticulous planning, and an eye for detail have in no way prepared her for this.

The following role has been CAST:

MARY
(Role CAST) Female, 50s. Mary, Jesus’s mother. She experienced her son not as the King of Jews but as a proud and foolish man. Weary and indignant, she is crushed by the cruelty of his death and refuses to believe that it served a greater purpose. She has rejected Judaism and finds solace in the Roman gods.
