AIDA

  1. An Egyptian Captain and the son of Zoser. A strong, handsome, adventurous soldier who falls in love with Aida. Male to play mid 20’s to 30’s. Vocal range top: G5, Vocal range bottom: B3

Mereb: A young Nubian slave and servant to Radames. He is faithful to his Nubian heritage and befriends Aida upon her arrival to Egypt. African-American male, 20’s – 30’s. Vocal range top: Bb5, Vocal range bottom: G3

Zoser: The manipulative and evil Chief Minister hungry for power. He attempts to poison the Pharaoh and is father to Radames. Male 40’s – 60’s. Vocal range top: Ab5, Vocal range bottom: F4

Pharaoh: The Leader of Egypt and father to Amneris. An older, distinguished gentleman. Male 50’s – 60’s

Nehebka: A Nubian slave who is friendly with Aida. She creates a robe for the Nubian Princess. African-American Female, 20’s to 30’s. Vocal range top: E5, Vocal range bottom: A3

Amonasro: An honorable and peaceful man who is imprisoned by Egypt. The King of Nubia and father to Aida. African-American Male 40’s – 60’s.

THE LITTLE MERMAID

Ariel: A mermaid and King Triton's youngest daughter. She is obsessed with everything about the human world, and dreams of becoming a part of life above the water. Hardheaded, naive, and emotional, but also kind hearted. Female to play 16 to 25.Vocal range top: Gb5, Vocal range bottom: Ab3

Prince Eric: A human monarch who has no interest of taking the crown. A handsome, affable lad with a buoyant, adventurous nature. After Ariel saves his life, he becomes obsessed with finding her and hearing her voice once more. Male to play 20 to 30. Vocal range top: G4, Vocal range bottom: B2

Flounder: A fish and smitten with Ariel, his best friend. Rambunctious but cautious, fearful of the dangers that lurk in and above the water. Male to play teens. Vocal range top: G4, Vocal range bottom: A2

Scuttle: A disheveled seagull and expert in human artifacts. Loudmouthed, optimistic, and a bit ignorant, despite his supposed expertise. Male mid 20 – 50’s. Vocal range top: G4, Vocal range bottom: C3

King Triton: King of the Sea and Ariel's father. Beneath his imposing presence and commanding nature lurks a harried single father who will do anything to protect his daughters. The death of his wife has also given him an irrational fear of humans. Male to play 35 – 50’s. Vocal range top: F4, Vocal range bottom: Ab2

Sebastian: A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is constantly distraught from keeping after Ariel. Despite his paranoia, he can't bring himself to stand in Ariel's way. Male 30 to 45. Vocal range top: C5, Vocal range bottom: Bb2

Flotsam: An eel and one of Ursula's lackeys. Oily and spineless, he/she will say anything you want or need to hear. Gender: open. 20’s to 40’s. Vocal range top: C5, Vocal range bottom: E3

Jetsam: An eel and one of Ursula's lackeys. Oily and spineless, he/she will say anything you want or need to hear. Gender: open. 20’s to 40’s. Vocal range top: A4, Vocal range bottom: B2

Chef Louis: The French palace chef, diabolical and violent. A culinary perfectionist with an affinity for blades, seafood in particular. Male 30 to 50. Vocal range top: A4, Vocal range bottom: Bb2

SUNSET BOULEVARD

Norma Desmond: Female, 50 – 60, a beautiful but eccentric faded star of the silent screen era. Once the biggest name in Hollywood, she is a recluse in her decaying mansion. A woman of great pride and passion with hopes of a comeback. Must be able to negotiate difficult rhythms and melodies and have huge vocal chops as the show is almost sung-through;

Joe Gillis: Male, 40-49, a handsome but just past his prime screenwriter whose career is in decline. His playboy looks and manners used to open every door but things have changed. He moves in with Norma Desmond all the while falling in love with young Betty Schaefer; an absolute charmer with a dark side, strong legit/pop voice to an A.

Max Von Mayerling: Male, 55-65, Norma’s devoted butler, protects her from the outside world, a dark and ominous presence in the mansion, he was Norma’s director and first husband, dramatic baritone.

Betty Schaefer: Female, 21-27, a beautiful young aspiring writer with spunk, teams up with Joe team up on a script and they fall in love, ultimately Joe breaks her heart, legit/pop soprano.

Cecil B. DeMille: Male, 60-69, the iconic Hollywood film director who discovered Norma Desmond and made her a star, historic figure, baritone.

Artie Green: Male, 25-30, Betty’s fiance, a confident, good-hearted guy with boy-next-door looks, baritenor.

Sheldrake: Male, 45-55, Studio chief. No no nonsense and crass. Baritone.

Manfred: Male, 35-50, High end clothier who is expert at dealing with celebrities. He has flair and a sycophantic charm. Baritone.

Ensemble (Chorus / Ensemble): Males & Females, 18-64

IN THE HEIGHTS

Usnavi: Owner of De La Vega’s Bodega, 24 charismatic leading man with tremendous heart. Strong rap skills.

Sonny: Usnavi’s younger cousin; works at bodega, 15*, someone who needs guidance or risks ending up a street punk. Strong mover/rap skills. (*actor must be over 18.)

Nina Rosario: freshman at Stanford University; daughter of Kevin and Camilia Rosario, to play 19

Kevin Rosario: Nina’s father; owner of Rosario’s Car and Limousine, 40s, stubborn and hot tempered.

Camila Rosario: Nina’s mother; co-owner of Rosario’s Car and Limousine, 40s, cool-headed.

Benny: Usnavi’s friend; works at Rosario’s Car and Limousine; African American, 24, hardworking, good guy. Moves well. Strong rap skills.

Abuela Claudia: raised Usnavi and Sonny, late 60s, clearly the matriarch of the neighborhood.

Daniela: owner of Daniela’s Salon, 30s, No nonsense, quick witted, brassy and outspoken.

Carla: hairdresser at Daniela’s Salon, mid-20s, strong dance.

Vanessa: Usnavi’s love interest; works at salon, 19, great dancer.

Piragua Guy: local piragua vendor, mid-30s, good hearted and hard working.

Graffiti Pete: local graffiti artist, 18, strong dancer. Acro a plus.
