40s-60s. The Duke of Vienna who later disguises himself as Friar Lodowick.
Escalus
50s-60s. A judge who works alongside the Duke and Angelo.
Angelo
30s-50s. Deputy to the Duke, later in charge of the city. A strict moralist, rigid and self-righteous. His sudden lust for Isabella causes his downfall.
Lucio
30s-50s. A gentleman of Vienna with a searing wit and lascivious humor. Friend to Claudio.
Pompey
30s-60s. Servant to Mistress Overdone. A humorous petty criminal.
Claudio
20s-30s. A gentleman of Vienna. In love with Juliet.
Provost
30s-60s. The warden of Vienna’s prison, a kind and honorable man.
Elbow
30s-60s. The bumbling city constable. Comedic, constantly mangles words and phrases with mispronunciation and double meanings.
Abhorson
40s-60s. The prison executioner.
Barnardine
40s-60s. A prisoner. A comical brute. Should be physically imposing. Also plays Justice and Gentleman.
Froth
40s-60s. A client of Mistress Overdone’s house. Comedic. Will also play Friar and Gentleman.
Mistress Overdone
40s-60s. Owner of a bawdy house. Comedic.
Isabella
20s-early 30s. A young nun. Sister to Claudio. Pure, and virtuous.
Mariana
20s-30s. Formerly betrothed to Angelo. Now lives cloistered outside the city.
Juliet
20s-early 30s. Betrothed to and in love with Claudio
