Breakdown

SEEKING:

NOTE: The Shakespeare Theatre Company is a strong proponent of Non-Traditional Casting and actively encourages actors of color, seniors, women and performers with disabilities to attend its auditions. Please submit actors of all ethnicities.

ANTONIA/FERMINA:
Late 20’s. Antonia is Quixote’s niece. She seems to be a sweet young girl, but is deeply selfish, self-conscious, and has her own interest at heart. Fermina works at the kitchen of the Inn. She is sexy, flirtatious, and is cruel enough to watch Aldonza be treated horribly and not do anything about it. The actress playing these roles should be able to dance. May understudy Aldonza. Seeking all ethnicities.

PEDRO:
30’s. Lead muleteer. He is the frontrunner and completely in charge. He is the most threatening of the group. Must have very strong acting, singing and dance ability. May also understudy. Seeking all ethnicities.

QUITO:
20’s to 30’s. the “silent” muleteer. Quiet, but menacing and capable of violence. Must have strong acting, singing and dance ability. Guitar playing is a plus. May double as Barber. May also understudy. Seeking all ethnicities.

CAPTAIN OF THE INQUISITION:
40’s to early 50’s. Must be an imposing authority figure. Must understudy Quixote/Cervantes. Seeking all ethnicities.
