SEEKING

Lucky Penny Productions is seeking a diverse group of performers for our 2017-2018 season of dramas and musicals. General Auditions are for the following productions: Chicago (September 2017), The Crucible (October/November 2017), Scream Queens (March/April 2018), The Miss Firecracker Contest (April/May 2018) and Hands on a Hardbody (June 2018).


PREPARATION

5 minutes. Prepare either one song and one monologue, or two monologues which showcase your talents. Bring sheet music in the key you plan to sing. No a capella singing or player devices. Please bring one copy of your most recent headshot/resume and be prepared to list your conflicts.

Amos Hart: (Male, 30-50) Baritone. Charming, funny, vulnerable, timid man.

Matron “Mama” Morton: (Female, 30-55) Alto. Street wise, funny, powerful and tough.

Mary Sunshine: (Male or Female, 25-40) Soprano.

Chorus: (Male and Female, 20-50) Looking for strong dancers and singers.

John Proctor: (Male, 30-50) A local farmer who lives just outside town; Elizabeth Proctor’s husband.

Reverend John Hale: (Male, 30-50) A minister reputed to be an expert on witchcraft.

Reverend Parris: (Male, 35-55) The minister of Salem’s church. Paranoid, power-hungry, yet oddly self-pitying figure.

Elizabeth Proctor: (Female, 25-45) John Proctor’s wife.

Abigail Williams: (Female, 16-20) Reverend Parris’s niece.

Mary Warren: (Female, 16-20) The servant in the Proctor household and a member of Abigail’s group of girls.

Rebecca Nurse: (Female, 50-70) Francis Nurse’s wife.

Francis Nurse: (Male, 50-70) A wealthy, influential man in Salem.

Gov. Danforth: (Male, 40-50) The deputy governor of Massachusetts and the presiding judge at the witch trials.

Giles Corey: (Male, 60-70) An elderly but feisty farmer in Salem, famous for his tendency to file lawsuits.

Thomas Putnam: (Male, 30-50) A wealthy, influential citizen of Salem.

Ann Putnam: (Female, 30-50) Thomas Putnam’s wife.

Ruth Putnam: (Female, 14-18) The Putnams’ lone surviving child out of eight.

Tituba: (Female, 20-40) Reverend Parris’s African American slave from Barbados.

Betty Parris: (Female, 10-16) Reverend Parris’s daughter.

Martha Corey: (Female, 50-70) Giles Corey’s third wife.

Ezekiel Cheever: (Male, 20-40) A man from Salem who acts as clerk of the court during the witch trials.

Judge Hathorne: (Male, 30-50) A judge who presides, along with Danforth, over the witch trials.

Herrick: (Male, 20-30) The marshal of Salem.

Mercy Lewis: (Female, 14-18) One of the girls in Abigail’s group.

THE MISS FIRECRACKER CONTEST

Carnelle Scott: (Female, 20s) Emotional, comic and impulsive.

Popeye Jackson: (Female, 25-35) Friendly, awkward, naïve but sincere.

Elain Rutledge: (Female, 30s) Carnelle’s Cousin.

Delmount Williams: (Male, 28-38) Carnelle’s cousin and Elain’s brother.

Mac Sam: (Male, 30s), A former lover from Carnelle’s promiscuous past who still carries a torch for her.

Tessy Mahoney: (Female, 20s) A coordinator with the Miss Firecracker Contest, her job is to keep the contestants on schedule.

HANDS ON A HARDBODY

J.D. Drew: (Male, 60s). A ‘good-ole boy’ with a high wattage grin, easy going and friendly.

Kelli Mangrum: (Female, 20s) High energy and steel ambition.

Benny Perkins (Male, 40s): A worn and weary Texan with a sly smile and lots of homespun philosophy.

Greg Wilhote (age 20s): A ‘boy next door’ kid with lofty dreams.

Chris Alvaro: (Male, 20s-30s) Ex-military with a heavy weight on his shoulders.

Ronald McCowan: (Male, 30s-40s/African-American) Big heart, happy soul, and a lady’s man.

Heather Stovall: (Female, 20s-30s) Flirtatious and big personality.

Virginia Drew: (Female, 40s-60s: J.D.’s wife, sweet and spunky.

Mike Ferris: (Female, 30s-40s) Sales manager and Nascar fan.

Cindy Barnes: (Female, 30s-40s) A former Miss Gregg County, fond of pageant hair and pastels.

Jesus Pena: (Female 20s-30s/Latino American) Driven and passionate with high hopes of hitting it big.

Norma Valverde: (Female, 40s-50s/Latino American) Proud Latina woman with a giant heart.

Janis Curtis: (Female, 50s-60s) A tough old bird with sun-burnished skin and missing teeth.

Frank Nugent: (Male, 40s-60s) A die-hard cowboy to the end.

Don Curtis: (Male, 40s-50s) Janis’ husband and a bit of a joker (doubles as Dr. Stokes)
