Equity actors for roles in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. See breakdown.



PREPARATION

Please prepare 16-32 bars of a pop/Motown song, a musical theatre song with a similar feel, or a song from the show. Also, please prepare a one-minute monologue of your choosing. There will be no dance/movement component to the initial audition.

Please bring 2 headshots/resumes (attached) to your audition.

BREAKDOWN

SHOW INFORMATION
Down on Skid Row, budding botanist Seymour Krelbourn is down on his luck and secretly in love with his coworker Audrey. When he discovers a new species of plant that promises unending fame and fortune, he thinks all is problems are solved – the only catch is the plant is a bloodthirsty carnivore bent on world domination! Don’t miss AE’s horrifically hilarious take on one of the longest running musicals in off-Broadway history.

ROLES:

Seymour Krelborn
Male. Any ethnicity. Age: 25 to 35. An insecure, put-upon florist's clerk and eventual hero. He is a genuine, well-meaning man who is taken for granted because of his clumsy ways and poor social skills.
Vocal range: A2 to G4

Audrey
Female. Any ethnicity. Age: 25 to 35. Bleached-blond, Billie-Dawn-like, secret love of Seymour's life. She has poor self-worth and education, but incredibly good looks and a sweet and vulnerable demeanor.
Vocal range top: G#3 to D5

Mr. Mushnik
Male. Any ethnicity. Age: 55 to 65. The seasoned owner of the failing East Side flower shop and Seymour's nosy boss. He is profit-driven, greedy, and manipulative.
Vocal range: G2 to F4

Orin Scrivello
Male. Any ethnicity. Age: 30 to 40. An egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend, who is targeted by Seymour.
Vocal range top: G2 to G4

The Plant (Audrey II)
Puppet. An anthropomorphic cross between a Venus flytrap and an avocado, the plant has an appetite for human flesh that is appeased by Seymour. Puppeteer doubles as other sizes of the plant.

Voice Of The Plant
Any gender. Any ethnicity. Age: 20 to 50. An actor/vocalist located offstage. The voice is that of a conniving, street-smart 'villain.' A funky Rhythm and Blues voice is best.
Vocal range: G2 to G4

Crystal, Ronnett and Chiffon
Female. African-American. Age: 20 to 35. Crystal, Ronnette and Chiffon are African-American street urchins, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus. Young, hip, and smart, these girls are the only ones who have a grip on reality.
Gender: Female
Vocal range: Ab3 to F5
