BREAKDOWN

RACHEL

17 year-old Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape president of the Tribal Youth Council and senior in high school. Patricia’s daughter. Rachel is a passionate and fierce young woman, and an active part of the Gen-I movement of Indigenous youth looking to demand respect and visibility for tribal cultures and contemporary life in ‘mainstream’ American society. Her appearance may lead uniformed people to believe that she is mulatto or African American or Latino. She is Native.

PATRICIA

47 year-old Lenape woman, the supervisor of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal Youth Council looking to anchor her daughter to the daily concerns of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape tribe. Rachel’s mom. An old activist who had ventured far in the national Native rights movement as a young woman in the late 80s/early 90s, Patricia has since re-dedicated herself to her family and tribe. Her appearance may lead uniformed people to believe that she is mulatto or African American or Latino. She is Native.

COACH

43 year-old non-Indigenous, non-Caucasian teacher and coach of the Parsippany High School Warriors. A former high school football player himself, Coach is a passionate, dedicated man with a great respect and love for the game of football in the job of his dreams and the season of his coaching career. With his special brand of solid coaching and traditional team building he is on the verge of making history by restoring his alma mater to the state champion status.

BRIAN

17 year old non-Indigenous high school senior of mixed race (Caucasian and something else) attending Parsippany High, and the quarterback of the high school Warriors football team. A part of a culture of men who have been on championship Parsippany High football teams, he wants nothing more than to honor and be a part of that legacy.
