PREPARATION
Prepare a brief musical theatre song from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s – Gershwin; Rodgers &Hart, et al. preferably funny. Bring sheet music; accompanist provided. Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

SYNOPSIS
Jimmy Reeve (originally Fred Astaire) is the legal guardian of three pretty sisters, Dora, June and Frankie (originally Adele Astaire). In his safe are June's pearl necklace and Frankie's diary. Because the diary contains incriminating things, she convinces Peter Thurston to steal it. He steals the pearls by mistake, and two bumbling burglars, Herbert and Chester, steal the diary by mistake. The Sheriff chases them to Atlantic City where everything ends “swimmingly”. Songs include: The Babbitt and the Bromide; Funny Face; He Loves and She Loves; 'S Wonderful; How long has this been going on

Frankie Wynn
(Female – Late 20s) She one of Jimmy’s wards and has a crush on Peter Thurston. She is a transparent and inveterate liar. Must be a great dancer (solo and partner) and an excellent singer. [Soprano but not high]
June Wynn
(Female – 20s) She is also ward of Jimmy’s. She can be manipulative and man crazy. Must be a good dancer and an excellent singer. [legit]
Dora Wynn
(Female – 20s) She is yet another ward of Jimmy’s. A hilarious comedienne – the funniest of the bunch. Must be a good dancer and an excellent singer. [legit]
Peter Thurston
(Male – 30s) Peter is a leading man type - amateur aviator, once-rich eligible bachelor, and reluctant crook. Must be a good dancer and an excellent singer. [Baritone]
Dugsie Gibbs
(Male – 20s/30s) Dugsie is a wanna-be lothario who has eyes for Dora and is a friend of Peter. Hilarious physical comedian also a great dancer with an excellent voice. [Baritone]
Herbert
(Male – Any age) The frightened and nervous crook. Must be good at physical comedy. Good mover. [Baritone]
Chester
(Male – Any age) Another crook – great physical comedian. Good mover. [any voice]
Sheriff

SYNOPSIS
HOI POLLOI (1949). Pinkie, a London girl, and an on-leave sailor, Harry, meet in Covent Garden Market, stroll in Hyde Park and she takes him home to meet her family – full of charming characters. Invited by newlyweds they’ve just met to go to a fancy party, he refuses. They quarrel, he relents, and they dress up and go. Next morning they part when he returns to camp. But he’ll be back and she’ll be waiting. Sigh.
