BREAKDOWN
MADELEINE:
Black, 31. Pretty, polished, high strung. An aggressive city girl who has just relocated to New Mexico from Brooklyn to be with Alex. Opinionated and smart, but absolutely lost. Drinks a lot, talks a lot.
ALEX:
Not White, 29. A manager at the fulfillment center. Kind, anxious. Out of his element managing working class people. Stressed out. He feels obligated to be driven and successful, but it doesn’t come naturally.
SUZAN:
White, early 60s. Chatty, anxious, friendly. An old hippie, really down on her luck. Semi-employed, semi-homeless. Has led a travelling, checkered life with lots of highs and lows. A survivor.
JOHN:
Not Black, 40s. A blue-collar loner. Living out of his truck. A good-looking guy, starting to go to seed. Seems nice but doesn’t talk much, which makes him kind of inscrutable. His stillness feels like it might be dangerous. A guy whose life took a wrong turn somewhere.
