Info about the Show
Summer is almost over when blue collar social worker Devon visits her sister Simone at the “ludicrous beach estate” where she works in Martha's Vineyard. Simone is the personal assistant to Michaela Kell, professional trophy wife. The owners are supposed to be away, but trouble ensues when Michaela unexpectedly returns. The story plays out in the luxurious guest house of the estate and includes an eccentric boyfriend and a put upon servant. Unexpected depths of character emerge as wise cracking Devon, ambitious aspiring author Simone, and universally despised Michaela interact with alternately comic and touching effect!
All 5 roles are open and available.
Michaela’s personal assistant, 29. A caring, empathetic person and natural beauty, very poised. She dresses from head to toe in Lilly Pulitzer. She makes six figures in her role as personal assistant. She was raised with modest means, but is Ivy League educated. She has just completed her latest novel — all 590 pages of it.
Simone’s estranged sister, 35. She is witty and intelligent, but has fallen on hard times - currently lives in her mother’s basement, sleeps on a bean bag chair and works at Olive Garden. Devon is visiting her sister on Martha’s Vineyard – she can see through the machinations of wealth.
Married to Peter Kell, owner of the estate, 33. Professional trophy wife in the midst of a marital crisis. Striking, beautiful, enviable, but on the verge of losing it all. Ivy League educated, but not raised with money.
The property caretaker, late 40s/50s. He is called Jos-B because the Kell’s already have another servant named Jose (Jos – A). Has worked at the estate for the last 14 years where he has never had a vacation and has been mistaken for being Cuban. (He is Puerto Rican) He is funny, vulgar and two-faced – fawning when Michaela is around, acerbic and biting when she’s not.
A friend of Peter and Michaela’s, 42. He is handsome and in excellent physical shape. He owns a cigar boat named after himself, the ETHAN II. And he wears bright pink Nantucket Reds. Raised with wealth, best friend from childhood to Michaela’s husband, and is currently dating Simone.
