Prepare a brief song (Broadway Standard). Also prepare a 1 minute monologue in case there is time. (total audition time under 2 minutes) Accompanist provided, bring music.

The hero of the story. After being released from imprisonment for serving nineteen years (five for stealing a loaf of bread and fourteen for multiple escape attempts), he decides to break his parole and turns his life around, proving that the corrupt can make themselves virtuous and selfless once more. He should reasonably carry himself as mature and paternal. The key to his character is his great humanity and compassion. Jean Valjean is a vocally demanding role with wide range and dynamic control. He is supposed to be stronger than other men, and so physically should appear robust..?Range: Tenor, Low G#2 to High B

The following role is now available:

THENARDIER is the true villain of this story, but also the comic relief. He is amoral and an opportunist. That said, he should also possess a wicked sense of humor. He delights in cheating, robbing, fraud and blackmail, relishing every aspect of them with glee. He is tough, greedy, brutal, stupid and crafty and yet somehow irresistible. Strong characterization is more essential than vocal quality. Must use Cockney accent.
Range: Baritone - Low G#2 to High G4
