Breakdown
RENE: Female, 60. Tough exterior, simmering, needs to feel in total control of her feelings— terrified behind the tough surface. Affable and generous when not threatened.
CERISE: Female, 50. Determined to live down her past life, harbors relentless guilt and shame about her youth. Determined to protect her daughter. Clings to the “old rugged Cross.” Resilient, and gives off a sensuality that she can’t help, and tries to deny.
GWENDOLYN: Female, 23. Sheltered, sensuous, sexual — naive about life— not retarded, but definitely learning disabled and self-conscious about the difficulties she has in comprehending school topics. Hopeful, eager, warm, and very curious. Romantic.
LEON: Male, mid-30’s. Sensuous, tough, sensitive to a degree that his “alpha” personality tries to suppress, sexual, clever, sense of humor, romantic despite his cynicism.
