Seeking
Equity/non-equity adult singers

Preparation
Prepare short song in a contemporary Broadway style show in your key.“Big Bopper” and “Ritchie Valens” must sing from the show. An accompanist will be provided, but will not transpose. Certain roles require Actor to play an instrument; Actor must bring his/her own. Bring picture and resume

Breakdown

Buddy Holly – singer-songwriter and star from Lubbock, Texas. Buddy is intelligent and incredibly charismatic. Must play lead guitar with great showmanship.
Joe Maudlin – Double bass player from Lubbock, TX. Serious, square young man with great musical ability.
Jerry Allison – Drummer from Lubbock, TX. Likeable and charming with a good sense of humor.
4th Cricket – plays rhythm guitar
Hipockets Duncan- Must be a strong actor. Ability to sing or play a musical instrument a plus. A hometown radio DJ from Lubbock, Texas with an air of authority and a keen sense of humor.
Norm Petty – Record producer from Clovis, New Mexico with a businesslike manner and a great passion for making records. Ability to sing or play a musical instrument a plus.
Maria Elena – Publisher receptionist who becomes Buddy’s wife and his rock. Attractive, classy and well educated.
Big Bopper/Decca Producer – Musician, songwriter and DJ who had a big voice and an even bigger personality. Exuberant, larger than life, commands the stage. Key song is “Chantilly Lace”.
Ritchie Valens - Handsome rock and roll star, with an eye for the ladies. Tons of charisma, good mover– key song is “La Bamba”.
Apollo Performer 1 – Male African American actor with great presence and comic timing. Must play a musical instrument. Key song- “Shout”
Apollo Performer 2 - Female African American actor with great presence and comic timing. Great singer and mover. Key song-“Shout”.
Male Ensemble - All ages and types. Plays multiple roles. Ability to play an instrument is a must- especially any brass instruments, drums, bass, guitar.
Female Ensemble - Great musicians, ability to hold a vocal part well. Comedic chops a plus. Fiddle playing or any musical instrument a plus but not a necessity.
