Who Wants Cake? Announces Premiere 2011 Season

After many fits and starts, Who Wants Cake? is delighted to announce the four shows that will comprise their premiere 2011 season. These shows include a contemporary American classic, a revival of the play they opened their doors with, a stark and unsettling British import, and a landmark gay play. Also to be announced will be a late night slot for Margaret Edwartowski's play My Dull Friend, the winning entry from the 2010 Gay Play Series (GPS). January 14-January 31:
THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES by John Guare
Kicking things off will be John Guare's classic play from 1971, THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES. Dave Davies stars as Artie Shaughnessy, a frustrated married songwriter whose life is altered once he meets Bunny Flingus, his downstairs neighbor. Dealing with a mentally unstable wife, a son who has just gone AWOL, a deaf starlet, and the pope's visit to New York may be just too much for one man to handle. Also starring Lisa Jesswein (formerly of 96.3's Blaine and Lisa in the Morning), Melissa Beckwith, Anne Faba, Vince Kelley, Cara Trautman, Joe Plambeck, Joe Bailey, and Jamie Richards. THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES is soon to be revived on Broadway with Ben Stiller and Edie Falco.

FATAL ATTRACTION: A GREEK TRAGEDY by Alana McNair & Kate Wilkinson
The show that started it all! Back in May, 2007, this was the play that opened our doors. It only had a brief two week run, though, and now it's back for a full engagement! The plot of FATAL ATTRACTION: A GREEK TRAGEDY loosely follows the Academy Award nominated film. When a big-time corporate lawyer has a one-night stand with a no-nonsense business woman while his wife is away, all hell breaks loose. This parody of the '80s classic tells its own story with a kinetic beat, a boiled bunny dance sequence, and numerous kung fu action scenes. Starring Jon Ager as Michael Douglas, Joe Bailey as Glenn Close, Melissa Beckwith as Anne Archer, and Dyan Bailey, Suzan M.
