The Purple Rose Theatre Company sends warmest congratulations to its Founder, Jeff Daniels, for his Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actor is a Drama for The Newsroom! Guy Sanville, Artistic Director of The Purple Rose, commented, "All of us in the Purple Rose family simply could not be more thrilled or happy for our founder and mentor Jeff Daniels, for taking home this year's Outstanding Actor in a Drama Emmy award. Our heartfelt congratulations go out to Jeff, his family and everyone associated with The Newsroom."

The Purple Rose opens its 2013/14 season with the revival of PRTC founder and award-winning playwright, Jeff Daniels play, The Vast Difference. In the 20th anniversary of this production, George Noonan is having a mid-life crisis. The father of five girls and a flight attendant for a small Midwestern airline, he is scheduled to have a vasectomy. As he works up the courage to go through with the procedure, George becomes reflective on his struggles with his career, living up to his father's expectations, and the nature of "being a man" in the modern world. The Vast Difference contains mild adult language and themes.

Directed by PRTC Artistic Director Guy Sanville, the cast includes Richard McWilliams (Dayton, OH), David Bendena (Chelsea, MI), Stephanie Buck (Chelsea, MI), Rhiannon Ragland (Chelsea, MI), Michael Brian Ogden (Berkley, MI), Rusty Mewha (Plymouth, MI), Drew Parker (Ferndale, MI) and Nathaniel Eyde (Okemos, MI).

The Vast Difference will enjoy a thirteen-week engagement at The Purple Rose Theatre Company from Friday, September 20 - Saturday, December 14, 2013. Press Opening is set for, September 27, 2013. Regular performances for the duration of the run are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8:00 PM with Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 3:00 PM and Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM. Founded in 1991 by actor and Chelsea native, Jeff Daniels, The Purple Rose Theatre Company (PRTC) is a leading American theatre dedicated to producing the new American play and creating opportunities for Midwest theatre professionals.
