Performance Network Theatre, Ann Arbor's professional theatre, is currently accepting applications for their 2014-2015 apprentice class. Every year, Performance Network Theatre hires three disciplined, engaged college graduates to serve as full-time apprentices. Throughout this comprehensive one-year program, selected individuals are trained with hands-on experience in all areas of running a professional, nationally respected, Equity theatre. Apprentices rotate between positions including development, marketing, box office sales, technical theatre, house management, and stage management. This is a great opportunity for any recent graduate wishing to make an impression in the Michigan theater scene.

Only those who have a deep-rooted desire to do theatre professionally are encouraged to apply for this program. With long hours, applicants must be fully committed to their craft to excel in this position. However, the rewards are endless and the knowledge gained from working with professional actors, designers, stage managers, directors and administrators are insurmountable. Apprentices finish the program with practical, real-world experience in arts management and production, important contacts in the professional theatre community, and a significant resume credit. Apprentices spend a portion of their time serving as production assistants for mainstage plays, which can be used to earn EMC points toward an Actors' Equity membership card. The program is designed for individuals who are specifically interested in launching a career in arts management, marketing, development, theatrical design, technical direction or stage management. Apprenticeships are a one year long (12 month) contract. Specific start and end times are negotiated, but the three apprentice start periods are staggered throughout the season to ensure seamless training.

On average, PNT apprentices work between 60 and 80 hours per week, with longer hours during set changeover weeks. The position is paid a $300 per week stipend to help defray living costs. After review of the applications, an interview process will take place and decisions will be made for the 2014-2015 apprentice class by mid- to late- spring for positions beginning as early as Summer 2014.

Apprentices are selected by application and interview. Application forms are available online at www.performancenetwork.org via the Employment page. Submissions should include the application form, a cover letter, resume, and two letters of recommendation. The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2014. Call or email Jennifer Pan at 734.663.0681 or jen@performancenetwork.org for more information.
