Music Hall proudly presents on the kickoff event for the 2016-2017 Season, The Osiris Legend- created by Music Hall and The Ron De Jesus Dance Company of Chicago- two performances, Saturday, October 8th at 8 PM, and Sunday, October 9 at 3PM.

Egypt's most treasured and enduring classic love-story ever told; "Osiris and Isis" is one of the most elaborate and influential stories in ancient Egyptian mythology. Tragedy and triumph unfold on stage between this divine couple. A powerhouse time-travel romance told through dance.

The World Premiere of The Osiris Legend is our 5th Commissioned event of the last year, and an ambitious creative trajectory after a post 2007 near bankruptcy nearly waylaid the venerable 88 year old performing arts center, Detroit's oldest. Music Hall has commissioned the world recognized tribute to David Bowie, "Star Dust", "313 To The 312" the pan-Detroit/Chicago dance exposition and the soon to be announced Hip Hop Opera Bio of the legendary African American vocalist and the first classical soloist, Roland W. Hayes in Winter 2017. Music Hall has aggressively helped to create and preserve the greatest and most contemporary of the performing arts while embracing multiculturalism, history and innovation, The Legend Of Osiris is a natural evolution in contemporary dance, of which Music Hall has become a National hub for talent and collaboration.

After 17 seasons as a leading dancer with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Ron De Jesus envisioned his transition from performer to choreographer as an opportunity to create a Dance Company in which dance would serve as a source of inspiration and innovation for both its performers and audience. De Jesus was able to realize his vision after starting Ron De Jesus Dance as a non-profit in New York City in 2007. After a successful move to Chicago in 2010, RDJDance has matured into an applauded contemporary Dance Company. The company's artistic vision combines the diverse professional experiences of its dancers with Ron's passion for new choreography, collaborations, and innovative production concepts. Each RDJDance performance conveys the human experience while introducing a new voice to a timeless art form.
