Michigan Funeral Details Set for Danny McNie

As our readers have been asked since we shared the sad news on June 19, 2015 that Danny McNie, 34, beloved son, brother, friend, singer, actor, and humanitarian, quietly passed away, services are set for Michigan this weekend. Click here for more details.

Danny grew up in Royal Oak Michigan and was a youth member of Stagecrafter's theatre. He graduated from Kimball High School (ROH) after which he attended Boston Conservatory. He obtained his degree from University of Cincinnati - College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), one of the nation's leading music conservatories. Immediately following, Danny was cast in the National Tour of Cameron Mackintosh's Miss Saigon. He assisted in the development workshop of The Book of Mormon.

Danny has performed in productions throughout the nation and around the globe. He was the Principal Soloist with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in The Music of Alan Menken. Danny was the principle performer in VOYAGE DE LA VE, Singapore.

At the time of his death, Danny was performing on The Pride of America, Kauai, Hawaii.

Danny is survived by his mother Kathy McNie (Bob Ilich), father Mark McNie, brothers Chris McNie and Josh McNie, aunts, uncles, cousins, and an extensive family of friends, including his second mom, Anne Tourtillott. Danny was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Paul and Marcella Hill and dear friend Jennifer DeRita.

Friends and loved ones from around the world are grieving the loss of an enormous talent and courageous, giving, and honest heart. Always a source of light and laughter, Danny had the ability to make everyone he met feel special.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 4-8 p.m., and Friday, July 3, from 2-8 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy (between Maple and Big Beaver Roads).

The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, July 4, 2015 - 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
