Meadow Brook Theatre Hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Meadow Brook Theatre, Michigan's largest producing non-profit professional theatre, hosted a special ribbon cutting ceremony on October 5, 2015.

Congressional, State, County and City Leadership and Oakland University Leadership were all in attendance including: Congressman Michael Bishop; State Representative Michael Webber; Mayor Jeffery T. Cuthbertson of Rochester; Mayor Bryan K. Barnett of Rochester Hills; Oakland County Director of Human Resources Jordie Kramer; City Council Member Henry V. Knight of Auburn Hills and Oakland University Provost, Jim Lentini.

"We are excited to celebrate Meadow Brook Theatre's Golden Anniversary with this special event," said Thom Foxlee, Meadow Brook Theatre Board President. "We are truly honored to have the support of so many members of the community and leadership from all three cities, the county, state and beyond! We thrive by the support of our patrons, community and our donors. I'm so happy we've had the chance to publically celebrate those who've continued to make great theatre possible in our community."

Foxlee cut the ribbon following the presentation of tributes and proclamations from all leadership representatives in attendance.

The proclamation from Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson stated "...Meadow Brook Theatre enhances the quality of life and the arts here in Oakland County and contributes to the county's reputation as the premiere destination for entertainment, dining and shopping in Southeastern Michigan..."

The ceremony concluded with cider and doughnuts sponsored by Westview Orchards and Cider Mill of Washington, Michigan.

The Michigan Premiere of THE EXPLORERS CLUB is the first production in Meadow Brook Theatre's impressive 50th Anniversary Season. THE EXPLORERS CLUB plays at Meadow Brook Theatre on the campus of Oakland University from October 7 through November 1. The season officially opens October 10 with a very special opening night afterglow reception sponsored by Lelli's of Auburn Hills and Manny's Liquor following the 6 PM performance of THE EXPLORERS CLUB. The reception will feature a special selection of samplings provided by Lelli's, as well as wine and cocktail tastings by Manny's Liquor. The reception is complimentary for all audience members attending the October 10th 6 pm performance of the show. Season subscribers may transfer their tickets to this performance at no additional cost.

THE EXPLORERS CLUB will star MBT audience favorites Rusty Mewha as Lucius Fretway, Phil Powers as Professor Cope, Chip DuFord as Professor Walling, Hugh Maguire at Professor Sloane, Lucas Wells as Luigi, Craig Bentley as Beebe, Wayne David Parker as Harry Percy, Thomas D. Mahard as Sir Bernard Humphries and Cheryl Turski as Phyllida Spotte-Hume and Countess Glamorgan.

Tickets range from $27 to $42 and are available by calling the Meadow Brook Theatre box office at 248-377-3300 or going online at www.ticketmaster.com. All ticket holders for the October 10, 2015 6 pm performance are invited to the complimentary afterglow reception. Subscribers wishing to transfer tickets to October 10 should call the box office.
