Meadow Brook Theatre Announces 09-10 Season

Meadow Brook Theatre's 2009-2010 season has something new for everyone with a full season of Michigan professional premieres!

Meadow Brook Theatre's five-play season is all new for 2009-2010. "They're all Michigan professional premieres," said Cheryl Marshall, managing director. "We've got an American classic, a drama, a comedy, a thriller and even a musical that have never been professionally produced in Michigan. It's exciting to bring something new to the state."

The season opens with "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving, adapted by Jefferson Garrett. This classic is familiar to generations of Americans who read the story of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horsemen in high school English classes. "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" runs October 7 - November 1, 2009.

The regular season then breaks for the special holiday production of "A Christmas Carol," by Charles Dickens, adapted by Charles Nolte, running November 21 - December 20, 2009. This year includes a special low price the first weekend and the annual discounted family performances on Thanksgiving weekend.

The season picks back up after the new year with the hit comedy "Boeing-Boeing" by Marc Camoletti. Originally produced as both a play and movie in the 1960s, it won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play for 2008. "Boeing-Boeing" is a comedic farce, telling the story of Bernard, an architect, who is juggling three flight attendant fiancées. It's up to Bernard's housekeeper to keep everyone on radar, but when a college friend visits and flights get off schedule, even the best fiancée-traffic controller can fall apart.

Next up is "Mindgame," running February 10 - March 7, 2010. To a pulp fiction writer, the opportunity to interview a serial killer is the chance of a lifetime, but in an asylum, what you see isn't always what you get. This comedic thriller by Anthony Horowitz premiered off-Broadway in 2008.

"Enchanted April," running March 17 - April 11, 2010, is based on the 1922 book by Elizabeth von Arnim and adapted by Matthew Barber. What better way for a group of women to escape the dreariness of 1920s England than to book a secluded house on the coast of Italy? Can these four women, who seem to have nothing in common, come together to overcome their individual challenges?

Finally, the musical "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" closes out the regular season, running April 21 - May 16, 2010. Written by Erik Jackson and Ben H. Winters, the music of Neil Sedaka tells the story of Lois and Marge, who go to the Catskills one Labor Day weekend in the 1960s, looking for adventure and romance. In addition to the title song, other familiar tunes include "Love Will Keep Us Together" and "Where the Boys Are."

Season tickets are currently available by calling the Meadow Brook Theatre box office at 248-377-3300. They range from $104 - $166 per seat for the five-play season. When you purchase tickets for the 2009-2010 season, you also have the ability to get tickets for "A Christmas Carol" at a 20% discount before they go on sale to the general public.

Single tickets go on sale Monday, September 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets range from $24 - $39 for individual plays.

Meadow Brook Theatre is also proud to announce their 2nd annual Children's Series. This year families will enjoy "Aesop's Fables with the Jim West Puppets", "The Lewis & Clark Expedition and Thomas Edison", "Henry & Mudge" and "Seussical the Musical".
