Matrix Theatre Company is delighted to announce an extension of its smash hit, Dream Deferred: Detroit, 1967. The world premiere, original production was set to close June 25 but has been extended through July 9 due to high demand for tickets.

Dream Deferred: Detroit, 1967 will run through July 9 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and on Sundays at 3 PM. There is no performance on Saturday, July 8. All performances are presented at Matrix Theatre Company, located at 2730 Bagley Avenue in the heart of Mexicantown. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students, seniors, active military personnel, and veterans and may be purchased in advance or, if available, at the door. Group rates are also available. For further information or to purchase tickets, visit www.matrixtheatre.org or call (313) 967-0599.

Most performances have sold out with would-be patrons being turned away at the door. "Dream Deferred: Detroit, 1967 is on track to be one of the most successful shows in Matrix's 26 year history," said Megan Buckley-Ball, Matrix's Artistic Director. "We're excited that our original production has been so well received and that these vital stories and perspectives will continue to be shared with members of our community."

Reflecting on a formative moment in our city's history, this original production unearths, for the first time, real interviews recorded by Dr. Xavier Nicholas following that summer's uprising. Dream Deferred: Detroit, 1967 gives voice to the unique experiences and perspectives of a cross-section of Detroiters to find out what really happened and how we can learn from the pain of our shared past.

Dream Deferred: Detroit, 1967 is generously supported by producers The Brennan Group, MGM Grand Detroit, Dr. Joseph B. and Lynn Stevens Naoum, Optik Birmingham, and support given in honor and memory of Detroit Fire Fighters who serve their city. Opportunities to become executive producers and producers of this production are still available. Contact Molly McMahon at (313) 967-0999 ext. 7 for more information.
