Informative and Fun Post-Show Events Scheduled for Intentions Run at Matrix

Matrix Theatre Company is pleased to announce special post-show events for its upcoming world premiere production of Intentions by Abbey Fenbert. These events are scheduled to take place after individual performances throughout the run. This additional programming is designed to allow audiences the opportunity to engage with the subjects and themes that the production addresses in a fun and engaging environment. All events are free with the price of admission.

"For a number of seasons, we've crafted diverse, exciting post-show events that delight our audiences," said Megan Buckley-Ball, Artistic Director. "At Matrix, we believe the experience doesn't end when the lights come up and the show is over; the conversation is just beginning. These events give our audiences unique experiences and help them digest and further explore the production they've just witnessed."

Intentions addresses themes and subjects as varied as balancing our personal needs and wants with others', identity, environmental sustainability, tolerance, and more. The wide-ranging events will explore these topics in both enjoyable and educational ways. A detailed schedule of events is attached.

Opening Night Reception, Friday, February 3: Join us for opening night and stick around after the show for a complimentary reception, sponsored by local bakery, Sister Pie. Mix and mingle with the cast and creative team and discuss the production while you enjoy delicious appetizers and desserts.

Growing Tomorrow's Detroit with The Greening of Detroit, Sunday, February 12: Environmental sustainability is one of Tillerman House's foremost guiding principles. We may share this value, but how can we put this principle into practice? Join us for a conversation with staff from local non-profit organization The Greening of Detroit, one of Detroit's organizational leaders in environmental sustainability. They will lead an informative discussion about their efforts to inspire sustainable growth of a healthy urban community through trees, green spaces, food, education, training and job opportunities, and share ways to get involved in the effort to make Detroit a better place to live, work, and play.

Self-care Strategies for Life in a Busy World*, Saturday, February 18: Throughout the play, the characters of Intentions are constantly negotiating what it means to "live deliberately," which, for them, means paying close attention to the needs of others. At times, though, they focus so much on others' needs that they ignore their own -- a reality to which many of us can relate. Bethany Hedden, a social worker with Southwest Solutions and Matrix teaching artist, is here to help. Talkback with the Artists, Friday, February 24: Actors Samer Ajluni, Emily Harpe, Siena Hassett, Artun Kircali, and Sam Moltmaker, director Molly McMahon, and playwright Abbey Fenbert will sit down with patrons after the show. Join us for a brief discussion, where audiences will have the opportunity to ask questions during a Q and A session and learn more about the making of Matrix's production of Intentions.
