Grosse Pointe Theatre will hold auditions for the musical comedy, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, based on the comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz, with Book, Music & Lyrics by Clark M. Gesner.

Auditions will be held Saturday, October 24, 2009, 1:00-4:00 P.M. and Sunday, October 25, 2009, 1:00-4:00 P.M. in the Grosse Pointe Theatre rehearsal facility located at 315 Fisher Road, Grosse Pointe, between Maumee and Jefferson. Call the ticket office for further information 313-881-4004.

All auditioners will be considered, regardless of experience. Director Jerry Haines asks that actors who do have resumes and headshots, please bring them to the auditions. Cuttings of scenes that will be used for auditions are available at 315 Fisher Road, Grosse Pointe during office hours: Monday through Saturday, 10:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M.

Rehearsals will take place at 315 Fisher Rd. Actors are asked to bring their calendars to auditions to list any rehearsal date conflicts.

The Performance dates and times for You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown are January 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M.; January 21-23 at 8:00 P.M., January 24 at 2 PM, and January 27-30 at 8:00 PM. The show will be performed at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial in the Fries Auditorium.

This is a community theatre production. Actors are required to join Grosse Pointe Theatre to appear in the show. The annual membership dues are $30. Actors are unpaid, but costumes, makeup, headshots and refreshments are provided.

The play is a visit to the whimsical world of Charlie Brown, from Valentine's Day to the baseball season, from cheerfulness to misery. The action is strung together on a single day, intertwining the antics of the Peanuts gang.

Character Descriptions

Charlie Brown: (Lead) The main and lovable character. Audition Song: The Kite.
Lucy Van Pelt: (Lead) Linus' lovable fuss-budget, older sister. Audition Song: Little Known Facts.
Sally Brown: (Support) Charlie Brown's younger sister. Audition Song: My New Philosophy.
Linus Van Pelt: (Support) Charlie Brown's blanket-sporting best friend. Audition Song: My Blanket and Me.
Schroeder: (Support) The piano playing character and Lucy's love interest. Song: Beethoven Day.
Snoopy: (Featured) Charlie Brown's ubiquitous dog. Song: Suppertime.
Little Red-Haired Girl: (Non-featured) Charlie Brown's crush. Song: Happiness.
Woodstock: (Non-featured) Snoopy's best friend, the bird. Must dance well. Song: Happiness.
Peppermint Patty: (Non-featured) A freckle-faced tomboy. Song: Happiness.
