Go Comedy! Will convene the new year with two original comedies. Breaking Convention will open January 16 followed by Assembly Required on January 30. Tickets ($5-$20) are available now for all Go Comedy! performances online at www.gocomedy.net and beginning at 6:00pm Wednesday - Sunday in person at the Go Comedy! box office.

Breaking Convention
At the Richard Myron Convention Center a scheduling mishap leads to an entire year's worth of conventions scheduled for the same week. Without a chance to fix the error, the convention center crew has to make it work through hilarious and ridiculous circumstances. From giants to princesses and urban legends to hotel room stays, Breaking Convention brings out the best and the worst of conventions and everything that surrounds them. Written by and featuring Jennifer Bloomer (Hamtramck), Billy Crawford (Grosse Pointe), Michelle Giorlando (Ferndale), Erik Heilner (Howell), Scott Myers (Ferndale) and Chris Petersen (Ferndale), the original comedy is directed by Pete Jacokes (Ferndale) and appears Thursday and Friday evenings at 8:00pm January 16 - March 7. Tickets ($15-$20) are on sale now at www.gocomedy.net.

Assembly Required
Emerson Stevenson Middle School is a school in trouble and it seems nothing can save it. The principal's last resort is to hire Success Train a long running motivational group with a history of getting kids back on track. But when trouble arises inside of the group will the show even go on? Assembly Required is written by and features Jennifer Bloomer (Hamtramck) and Bob Wieck (Ferndale), also featuring MaryBeth Kolbicz (Livonia), Jeff Mansk (Detroit), Nuverre Naami (Ferndale), Tom Novik (Clinton Township), and Jacob Russell (Detroit). This original comedy is directed by Matt Naas (Ferndale), and assisted directed by Chris Petersen (Ferndale) and appears Thursdays evenings at 10:00pm January 30 - March 6. Tickets ($10) are on sale now at www.gocomedy.net.

Five Years of Go Comedy!Go Comedy is the brainchild of Pj Jacokes, Gerald Knight, Chris DiAngelo and Tommy LeRoy. The departure of The Second City from the Detroit area and closure of Ann Arbor's Improv Inferno left a community of talented improvisers without a creative home. Having fallen in love with improv at the Improv Inferno, Knight approached Jacokes, DiAngelo and LeRoy with the opportunity to start their own theater. In 2007 the former Secretary of State office in Ferndale became available and the team began work. A year later, Go Comedy! Improv Theater opened its doors and became a catalyst for hundreds of original shows, a robust improv academy, and an incubator for innovation, inspiration and integrity, three principles that have directed the theater through its first five years and beyond. Today, Go Comedy! is home for hundreds of improvisers, at least 30 improv troupes, and a weekly schedule of hilarious award-winning programming that has garnered local and national recognition, and occasionally someone trying to renew their drivers' license.
