Tickets to WICKED, a new musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, Academy Award winner for Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt) and book by Winnie Holzman ("My So Called Life," "Once And Again" and "thirtysomething") based on the best-selling 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, will go on sale Saturday, June 20, 2009. WICKED will play in Des Moines Wednesday, Sept. 23 to Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009

Tickets for WICKED will first go on sale to the public at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Civic Center Ticket Office (221 Walnut St., downtown) with special festivities. Tickets will be available for purchase ONLY at the Civic Center Ticket Office from 7 to 10 a.m. KIOA Oldies 93.3 and Star 102.5 will be broadcasting live from 6 to 8 a.m. with WICKED prize giveaways, all morning long. Groups of 20 more should call (515) 246-2320.Due to the unprecedented demand for tickets to WICKED, it is likely that the Des Moines engagement of WICKED will sell out in record time. Here are the only ways we suggest purchasing tickets for this engagement:

- Online at the Civic Center Web site at CivicCenter.org

- Online at Ticketmaster.com/wicked

- Ticketmaster charge-by-phone at (800) 745-3000

- The Civic Center Ticket Office, 221 Walnut St.

- All Ticketmaster outlets, at most Hy-Vee and Younkers locations

In previous engagements, when ticket buyers have been told that performances of WICKED are sold out, they sometimes find that tickets are still available through third parties: ticket agencies or brokers. Tickets purchased through these sources are usually substantially more expensive than the original ticket price. Please know that we cannot prevent these agencies from buying tickets when they go on sale, and laws governing ticket brokers (and how much they can charge for tickets) vary greatly from state-to-state.
