Jason Robert Brown to Conduct the Des Moines Symphony in Selections of THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, 7/2

Des Moines Performing Arts, in partnership with the Des Moines Symphony, is hosting a special guest with Iowa ties at the state's largest single-day concert event. On Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Des Moines Symphony's 22nd annual free Yankee Doodle Pops concert on the Iowa State Capitol's West Terrace, three-time Tony Award®-winning composer JASON ROBERT BROWN will conduct the orchestra in selections from Broadway's THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, for which he wrote the music, lyrics and orchestrations. The musical, winner of the 2014 Tony Award for Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations, is famously set in Iowa and will launch its national tour at the Des Moines Civic Center November 28 - December 5.

Selections from THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY play well with this year's Des Moines Symphony'sYankee Doodle Pops theme, "Iowa: America's Musical Heartland," which will feature music inspired by our great state. Soloists Christiane Noll and Hugh Panaro, with Brown conducting the Orchestra, will perform "To Build a Home," "It All Fades Away" and "One Second and a Million Miles" from the musical. Additionally, Noll, Panaro, the orchestra and other guest artists will perform selections from The Music Man and State Fair. Iowa Public Radiowill broadcast the performance live that evening beginning at 8:30 PM CT and listeners across the country can stream the broadcast at www.iowapublicradio.org.

In celebration of Brown as a guest composer at the Des Moines Symphony's Yankee Doodle Pops, Des Moines Performing Arts is offering a pre-sale for THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, which will be at theCivic Center Saturday, Nov. 28 - Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015. The pre-sale is available Thursday, July 2 - Friday, July 10, 2015.
