The Englert Theatre celebrates the 99th Anniversary of its historic building with a three-day event filled with performances and discussions October 6-8, 2011. Tickets are available for purchase Friday, August 12 at noon. Friends of the Englert may purchase presale tickets now. Please visit http://englert.org for complete event details.

The Poison Control Center
Thursday, October 6 at 8:00pm
Tickets: $5 general admission; limited ticket availability

A special, Intimate at the Englert performance by one Iowa's hardest working bands. After spending a year on the road touring behind two critically-acclaimed records -- Sad Sour Future and Stranger Ballet -- the Poison Control Center return to their native Iowa and will grace the Englert's stage with a special performance of material specifically curated for the Englert's 99th Anniversary event. Iris DeMent with opening act Alexis Stevens

One of the most celebrated country-folk performers, singer/songwriter Iris DeMent returns to the Englert stage for an unforgettable night of music. The Grammy-nominated artist has collaborated with country man John Prine on his 1999 album, In Spite of Ourselves. Iowa City-based Alexis Stevens will open the evening. (event details)

A Series of Panels on Iowan Artists
Saturday, October 8 - afternoon / free

Several Iowan artists will gather to talk on panels revolving around different mediums of art: visual art, music, and theatre arts. Expect lively discussions that will include a number of key figures in Iowa's various artistic circles. More information coming soon!

Pieta Brown (album release concert)

Pieta Brown is a striking poet-songwriter with a haunting voice and an unmistakable style. Her unique blend of alt-country, folk, blues and indie-rock speaks to music fans around the world and has garnered rave reviews from the likes of the BBC and Boston Globe. This Intimate at the Englert performance will celebrate the release of her new album Mercury (out 9/29). (event details)
