Des Moines Playhouse Hosts Auditions For BOXCAR CHILDREN 1/10/2010

Auditions for "The Boxcar Children" will be held at The Des Moines Playhouse at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, Jan. 10. All auditions are open to the public; no one is pre-cast.

"The Boxcar Children" contains feature roles for three men and two women, ages 16 and up, and two boys and two girls, ages 8-16. Performances are Feb 26-mMar. 14. "The Boxcar Children" is directed by Kathy Pingel.

"The Boxcar Children" is based on the book by Gertrude Chandler Warner. When Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny Alden find themselves suddenly orphaned, they band together and make a home for themselves in an abandoned railroad car.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
