Des Moines Playhouse Friday Funday presents 'The Ugly Duckling' 10/23

The Des Moines Playhouse presents "The Ugly Duckling," Friday, Oct. 23. This story is part of the 2009-10 season of Friday Funday, a creative participatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. Performances are at The Playhouse, Friday, Oct. 23, at 9:30 and 10:30 AM, and 1:30 PM. Admission is $5 per person, adults and children. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling The Playhouse box office at 515-277-6261.

October's featured story is "The Ugly Duckling." The ugly duckling doesn't look like the rest of The Farmyard animals. When he leaves the nest to find out where he belongs, he meets some very interesting characters along the way.

The 2009-10 season features a variety of stories, including "Cinderella,"Nov. 13; "The Elves and the Shoemaker," Dec. 18; "The Three Little Pigs," Jan. 15; "The Mitten," Feb. 12; "Fin McCoul," Mar. 5; "Stone Soup," Apr. 9; and "Caps for Sale," May 14.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
