The Des Moines Community Playhouse's Kate Goldman Children's Theatre presents "Disney's Alice in Wonderland Jr.," Nov. 8-Dec. 1. Tickets may be purchased online at dmplayhouse.com, by phone at 515-277-6261, or at The Playhouse ticket office, 831 42nd St.

When Alice (Rachel Forney) chases a White Rabbit (James Kolnik) with a pocket watch, she suddenly finds herself in a magical place called Wonderland. Wonderland is inhabited by a curious collection of characters. There's the mysterious grinning Cheshire Cat (Jay M. Jacobson), who appears and disappears suddenly. There are the jabbering twins, Tweedle Dum (Joe Struss) and Tweedle Dee (Dan Heck), who attempt to teach Alice manners. A Mad Hatter (Larry Mahlstedt) hosts an un-birthday tea party that is more like a game of musical chairs. And then there is the ruler of Wonderland, the Queen of Hearts (Deb Paul), whose royal cardsmen are painting the white roses red.

"Disney's Alice in Wonderland Jr." is full of classic songs from the original film, including "I'm Late" and "The Unbirthday Song," as well as other great Disney tunes, like "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah."

Completing the cast are Douglas Cochrane, Robert Cook, Alexis Joy Frank, Bryan Gamboa, Megan M. Gilbreath, Joy Mielke, Greta Putnam, Marisa Spah, Julianne P. Ungs, and Stella Webster. The Playhouse cast is directed by Anne Arthur Frett, with music direction by Robin Heldt Spahr and choreography by Melissa Kellar.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.

Ticket prices $13-17, with discounts for groups of 15 or more. All orders, whether purchased online, by phone, or at the ticket office, are subject to the same service, ticketing, and processing fees.
