The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents a unique opportunity to interact with their Family Holiday Classic, "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." Come to the Playhouse at 5:30 PM, Monday, Nov. 30, for a fun evening with the magical car used in the production.

This free, family-friendly event will give guests an up-close view of the costumes and props used in the show. A demonstration of the car's transformation into a flying machine and a boat will be held at 5:45 PM. Punch and cookies will be served throughout the evening.

Following the car demonstration, guests will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Photos will be taken by Maharry Photography for $25, which includes a print and a link to download a digital version.

"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" performances are Nov. 27-Dec. 20. When eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts restores an old racing car, he and his children, Jeremy and Jemima, soon discover it has magical properties. Trouble occurs when the child-hating Baron Bomburst tries to capture the car for himself. "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" is sponsored by DuPont Pioneer.

The Playhouse is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
