Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce that Michael Querio has accepted the newly created position of Executive Artistic Director for the theatre. This position is the result of combining two existing positions and incorporating the artistic and business responsibilities into one position.

President Judy Jensen state, "I am thrilled that Michael, who has been extremely instrumental in the development and growth of Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre over the past 20 years, has accepted the lead position with RMRT. I cannot think of a better individual, whose love of musical theatre and proven leadership qualifications, will continue to ensure the excellence of this theatre into the future."

Over the years, Michael has helped produce over 50 productions on the RMRT stage, and in that time has seen the stage from many angles - in the pit as Musical Director and pianist under the spotlight as an actor (Forever Plaid 2000, West Side Story), and now in front of the stage as Artistic Director. Michael's wealth of knowledge comes from his history in Chicago and throughout the Midwest as an accomplished conductor, teacher, and musical arranger. For over 20 years, he inspired the hearts, minds and voices of young artists as a faculty member at the prestigious North Shore Country Day in Winnetka, Illinois.

"I started coming to Grand Lake to work at Rocky Mountain Rep in 1995, and it has always been part-time job--always part of my professional life. Now to think that my job at RMRT will be my full-time job is so wonderful to me. I'm looking forward to devoting myself even more--not only to managing the current operations of RMRT, but having greater ability now to think about the future of this organization, and growing the offerings of the theatre, and to continue to partner with Grand Lake and Grand County to keep this town and this area thriving and moving forward."

Jensen further adds, "We are additionally excited that Michael will be here to shepherd us into our 50th anniversary of Rocky Mountain Rep in 2017. This will be such a landmark year for our theatre, and there is no one better suited to guarantee an appropriate salute to our history."

The 2016 season is fast approaching, and will feature an incredibly talented cast from all over the United States. The season begins with Disney's The Little Mermaid opening June 17th, followed by Rock of Ages on June 24th and Titanic: The Musical on July 8th. The Fall show is Million Dollar Quartet, which opens on September 2nd, 2016.

This is a very exciting time for this historic theatre in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Follow the Boardwalk to our theatre to see the 2016 productions showcasing the talent of our new Executive Artistic Director, Michael Querio.
