Pikes Peak Opera League is known for its support of opera in southern Colorado. It stands above many partner arts organizations for presenting exceptional music programs at monthly meetings throughout the year and hosting special fundraising events. Formed originally as the Colorado Opera Festival Guild in 1979, Pikes Peak Opera League now celebrates its 38th year.

Recently, the League presented a wildly successful preview evening of Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado" at the home of Dr. Susan Rae Jensen and Tom Trainer. Rarely performed in Colorado, the comic opera will be presented by Opera Theatre of the Rockies on Saturday evening, May 13 at 7:30 pm or on Sunday afternoon, May 14 at 3:00 pm at the Kathryn Morhman Theatre, Armstrong Hall at Colorado College, NE corner of Cache La Poudre Street and Cascade Avenue. Details about ticket sales will be available on Opera Theatre's web site starting on March 1. We ask that you visit Pikes Peak Opera League's web site at pikespeakoperaleague.org and Opera Theatre's web site at operatheatreoftherockies.org for more information about upcoming events and the opera.

To reserve your place for the special March 10 "Out of This World" Jazz Party at the Space Foundation Discovery Center, evening heavy hors d'oeuvres and wine along with the fine music of Hennessy 6, please send in your check for $65 per person made out to PPOL to Pikes Peak Opera League, P.O. Box 38478, Colorado Springs, CO 80937. Deadline for reservations is Sunday, March 5. You may also make your reservations online at pikespeakoperaleague.org. If you have questions about reservations, please call Nancy Daly at 635-7087.

The Pikes Peak Opera League, with a membership of approximately 150, supports opera in southern Colorado through its liaison with Opera Theatre of the Rockies and Opera Theatre Goes to School. Its breadth of support also includes scholarships in the form of Career Grants given to talented young Colorado singers every spring and sponsorship of the popular Young Voice Competition for area high school vocal arts students, now in its fifth year.

Visit the PPOL web site to learn more about the Opera League's full calendar of 2017 monthly meetings with scheduled music programs and special events. We invite you to attend these unique benefit events and think about becoming an Opera League member. Feel free to contact the League's president, Nancy Daly at 635-7087 for specifics.
