Equinox Theatre Company presents the final show in its 2012 season with Stephen Sondheim's hit musical ASSASSINS playing now through September 15.

Bold, original, surreal, disturbing, thought-provoking and alarmingly funny, ASSASSINS is perhaps the most controversial musical ever written. This most American of musicals lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical "revusical" that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish rollercoaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and in an intense final scene inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.

The talented cast includes Scott Bellot as the Balladeer, Adam Shelton as John Wilkes Booth, Owen Niland as the Proprietor, Sue Ann Shelton as Squeeky Frome, Patrick Brownson as Sam Byck, Shannon McCarthy as Guiseppe Zangara, Brandon Keller as Leon Czolgosz, Torrey Jenkins as Charles Guiteau, James Crapes as John Hinckley, Jr, and Emily Maccomber as Sara Jane Moore. The ensemble includes Angela Mendez, Rachelle Wood, Kristen Mair, Rachel VanScoy, Alex Ambard, and Richard Chachi Martin. The creative team includes direction by Pat Payne, music direction by Tim Kennedy and choreography by Matthew Dailey.

ASSASSINS was nominated for seven Tony Awards and won five of them including Best Revival of a Musical in 2004 with the book by Josh Weidman and music and lyrics by the great Stephen Sondheim. In addition, In light of the recent tragedy in Aurora, Colorado, Equinox Theatre Company will be donating a portion of it's proceeds for the run of the show to COVA, the Colorado Organization for Victims Assistance. In addition, there will be a donation jar set up in the lobby of the bug theatre for anyone wishing to make additional donations.
