NOW PLAYING: Candlelight Dinner Playhouse Presents FIDDLER ON THE ROOF - thru 10/28

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, winner of 11 Tony Awards®, is playing now through October 28th at the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse in Johnstown, Colorado.  With music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, Fiddler is set in Tsarist Russia in 1905, and is based on Tevye and his Daughters by Sholem Aleichem.  The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. Filled with a rousing, heartwarming score, which includes "Tradition," "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," "If I Were A Rich Man" and "Sunrise, Sunset,” Fiddler on the Roof is a timeless classic- -that has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth and honesty.

Real-life husband and wife team Patrick Sawyer and Melissa Swift-Sawyer are sharing the stage at Candlelight playing Tevye and Golde, one of the most famous married couples in musical theater history.   Both regional favorites, Patrick and Melissa have played many Colorado venues over the last 20 years.  Audiences will remember Melissa best for her performance as Patsy in the long-running Always, Patsy Cline at the Denver Center. Fiddler is directed by Brian Burron and features sets by Melissa Schrank based on the works of Marc Chagall.
