John Thew Named New Managing Director of Theatre Aspen

Theatre Aspen announces the hiring of John Thew as the new Managing Director of the organization, after a national search. Thew, who held the same position with Minneapolis's Theater Latte Da, replaces Emily Zeck, effective in early November.

Under his leadership at Theater Latte Da, contributed income grew sixty-five percent and ticket revenue rose ninety-five percent. Prior to his position in Minneapolis, Thew was with New York's Second Stage Theatre.

Named the Non Profit Business of the Year of 2012, Theatre Aspen completed its record-breaking thirtieth anniversary summer season at the end of August, featuring a repertory of LES MISERABLES, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brownand Fully Committed. Theatre Aspen School offers year-round programming for young children through adults.

Artistic Director Paige Price said, "We are thrilled to have hired John Thew as our new managing director after several months of searching for the perfect fit. I'd like to add that Emily Zeck's contributions to Theatre Aspen during a time of unprecedented growth and fiscal health cannot be underestimated, and we wish her the very best in her next chapter."

Theatre Aspen was awarded the "Outstanding Regional Theatre" Henry Award in Denver in 2009 and Alison Luff (Scandalous) won a Best Supporting Actress Denver Post Ovation Award for her work as Olive in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Recent Ovation nominees include Joan Hess, Beth Malone, Aaron Rhyne, Julia Foran and Sandy Duncan.
