The Fine Arts Center Theatre Company presents the family holiday classic, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the SaG?Ji Theatre Nov. 26 - Dec. 19, featuring discounted family matinees on Saturday afternoons.

Based on the 'coat of many colors' biblical story, this colorful retelling of Joseph's wild adventures involving 11 jealous brothers, his uncanny abilities as an interpreter of dreams and one very loud garment comes from the creative team of composer Andrew Lloyd Webber (Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, and Sunset Boulevard) and lyricist Tim Rice (The Lion King, Chess, Beauty and the Beast, and Aida).

Joe Mikolaj (MICK o l?) will play the lead role of Joseph. Mikolaj recently graduated from the Yale School of Music with a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance. His recent roles include Nanki-Poo in The Mikado, Frederick in Pirates of Penzance, and Goro in Madame Butterfly. He also frequently does solo work, including Beethoven's Mass in C, Honegger's King David, Haydn's Paukenmesse, Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin , Handel's Alexander's Feast, and Bach's B Minor Mass and Christmas Oratorio.

This past April Mikolaj took first prize at the New York Oratorio Society's Lyndon Woodside Solo Competition. Competing as the youngest musician against experienced singers from across the nation, Mikolaj earned the $7,000 first prize.

The cast features Kerrin Mullen (Narrator), Ken Robinson (Pharaoh), Skip Cochrane (Jacob/Potiphar), and Casiena Raether (Mrs. Potiphar). Plus, a 20-member ensemble and a kids' choir that features several alumni from the FAC Youth Repertory Theatre summer training program.

"Audiences love Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, said the show's director, Cory Moosman. "It's one of the most popular musicals of all time. Our production promises to be an experience - fast paced, with top-notch performances with plenty of flash and an electrifying score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. It's the perfect show for families this holiday season."

The creative team includes Roberta Jacyshyn (Music Director/Conductor), Mary Ripper Baker (Choreographer), Tom Hansen (Scenic Designer), Leslie S. Aldridge (Costume Design), Christian Medovich (Lighting Design), Breton Parks Christopherson (Sound Design), and Jessica Rose (Properties Master). The production stage manager is Brantley Scott Haines.

Moosman has directed many FAC productions, including Beauty and the Beast, The Music Man and Lend Me a Tenor. Jacyshyn has been the Musical Director or musician or both for virtually every single FAC musical since 1984's Bye Bye Birdie. Hansen was nominated by the Pikes Peak Arts Council for his design on last spring's production of Crazy For You.
