The Utah Shakespearean Festival announced today that Denver Center Theatre Company actor and director David Ivers has been named Joint Artistic Director of the TONY Award-winning company in Cedar City, UT.

Also appointed was Brian Vaughn, currently at Milwaukee Repertory Theatre where he has been a member of the resident Acting Company since 1997.

Denver Center Artistic Director Kent Thompson commented, "What terrific news for David Ivers; what sad news for us. We lose a wonderful company member - both as an actor and as a director. But this is a fabulous opportunity for David and a superb choice by the Utah Shakespearean Festival, with whom David has a long association. We wish him the best and know he will do great things in Utah."

In ten seasons at the Denver Center, David directed the 2008 production of William Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor and acted in 28 productions including Othello, Eventide, Absurd Person Singular, A Prayer for Owen Meany, Inana, Noises Off, Plainsong, Pride and Prejudice, You Can't Take It With You, A Funny Thing...Forum, The Pillowman, Amadeus, After Ashley, Measure for Measure, All My Sons, Oedipus Rex, The Misanthrope, The Merchant of Venice, Love's Labor's Lost and, his first production in 2000, The Cripple of Inishmaan.

David, his wife Stephanie and one-year-old son JD will move to Utah this summer.
