As "Moon Over the Brewery" rises at Possum Hall, the cast prepares to paint a contemporary picture of a family dealing with some everyday issues as well as some of the off-the-wall variety. Some shades of comedy, some clouds of confusion are all part of the big picture as mother and teenage daughter try to define their relationship.

Abigail Porter of Laurel portrays the genius IQ level Amanda and Audrey Fisher Killen of Frankford plays her mother Miriam. Miriam, a single mother, is a talented painter, but her job leaves only nighttime painting by moonlight to express her creativity. A series of moonscapes - Moon Over the Statue, Moon Over Dorphman's Hardware Store - fill the crowded little house.

The sketchiest character lives only in the mind of the 13-year-old daughter, yet he is mouthy, usually in the middle of everything and seems to exert a lot of influence on Amanda. Georgetown resident Don Megee is the imaginary, but ever present Randolph. Mike Mahaffie of Lewes is in the role of Warren, who just might be on the way to becoming Miriam's beau. He is a quiet, unassuming man who seems almost colorless beside resplendent Randolph. However, his down to earth manners and sincere character might be just what is needed to help Amanda realize she doesn't need an imaginary alter ego any longer.

Production dates of "Moon Over the Brewery" are April 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24. Show times of the Bruce Graham play are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets, $18 adults and $17 seniors and students, may be purchased on line at possumpointplayers.org or by calling 302-856-4560.

"Moon Over the Brewery" is directed by Mike Polo of Dover; Bridgeville resident Jill Lewandowski is assistant director.

"Moon Over the Brewery" is being produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
