The Delaware Children's Theatre will present the classic holiday tale Scrooge with a cast of more than forty adults, teens and children to introduce young families to the magic of live theatre. The show opens tonight, November 22 and runs through December 14th.

This musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a toe-tapping musical with unforgettable characters and a great holiday message. The story follows miser Ebenezer Scrooge on a magical night of his life where he finally sees the error of his ways and embraces the Christmas spirit. After seeing visions of three spirits (the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future) he rediscovers the importance of cherishing the people in his life.

The role of Scrooge will be played by veteran actor Frank Baldo. A newcomer to DCT, Luke Plunkett, plays the role of Tiny Tim. Luke practiced for the audition by watching YouTube videos to develop his character. He is a 4th grade student at St. Mary Magdalen School in Wilmington, Delaware.

The show is being produced by Marie Swajeski and directed by Emmy Award Winner Donna Swajeski in the DCT tradition of providing high caliber live theatre. Scrooge and our other Children Series productions are designed to deliver live theatre, music and a positive message through story telling.

"Everything from the show length to the fun, interactive experience is carefully planned to provide the best possible entertainment. And there's an added benefit of photo opportunities after the show for the children in the audience and our Scrooge characters," states director Donna Swajeski.

Tickets are available online for only $13 at www.dechildrenstheatre.org, or at our Box Office for $15. The production runs on November 22, 23, 29, 30, and December 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14. December 12th is a special Friday evening show at 7:30 pm. This is our "Fezziwig party" night for the whole family with wines, fizzy punch for kids and some special surprises.
