Rachel Crothers' 1937 play-famously adapted into a 1940 film starring Joan Crawford-will receive a new production at Theatre Three beginning in April. The play follows Susan, a young wealthy New York socialite who lives only for Susan. When she discovers a new religious cult, she dives head first into her latest fad. Eager to spread the word of her transformation, Susan goes straight to her closest friends, who are, as usual, less than enthusiastic about her newest pastime.

"What attracts me to this project is, quite simply, the playwright," says director Lisa Devine. "Regarded as the 'Neil Simon of her day,' who had over thirty Broadway shows, a Pulitzer nominee, and Hollywood knocking on her door, why does no one know who this playwright is? Being a contemporary of Henrik Ibsen and Eugene O'Neill, is she not remembered because she is a woman? I believe it is time to bring Rachel Crothers back into the social conversation. Susan and God focuses on the juggling act of faith, marriage, teenage angst and career obligations-a story contemporary women will surely see themselves in."

Susan and God is directed by Lisa Devine with a cast featuring Catherine DuBord (Susan), Ashley Wood (Barrie), Maya Pearson (Blossom),Vanessa DeSilvio (Irene), Jeff Wittekiend (Mike), Desiree Fultz (Charlotte), Alle Mims (Leonara), Jovane Caamaño (Clyde), Brian Hoffman(Stubbie) and Jon Garrard (Leeds).
