The fourth production of Jubilee Theatre's 30th Anniversary Season, The African Company Presents Richard III by Carlyle Brown will preview March 25 and runs through April 23. Directed by Phyllis Cicero, The African Company Presents Richard III features Bob Allen, May Allen, Major Attaway, T.K. Bell, Chuck Jemerson, Martin Olsen and Rick Spivey. Set design is by George Miller and costumes are the work of Barbara O'Donoghue.

This production is much more than just Shakespeare. Set in New York in 1821, The
African Company Presents Richard III tells the true story of America's first black
theatre company as they struggle against odds of class, race and tradition to stage a
production of Richard III. At the heart of this story is the message of a people lifting
themselves up through art, showing that they too, can be kings and queens.

Local theater arts professors and teachers are encouraged to join us for a complimentary preview and discussion with Artistic Director Tre Garrett on Thursday, March 31 at 7:30pm.
