Second Thought Theatre announced today the inaugural year of Second Thought State Mind, an event celebrating STT and gathering support for the award-winning theatre company. Second Thought State of Mind: Allison Tolman invites guests to an evening of fun and fundraising with Allison Tolman. Tolman, one of STT's original ensemble members, was recently nominated for an Emmy for her role on the hit FX television show "Fargo." Second Thought State of Mind: Allison Tolman will take place on Saturday, October 25 at Bridge Bistro.

"This is a very exciting time for Second Thought Theatre. The award-winning company just wrapped up a critically acclaimed 11th season and has some thought-provoking experiences in store for next season," said event chair, Amy Kendrick Lee. "Second Thought State of Mind: Allison Tolman gives us the opportunity to commend Second Thought Theatre for their amazing work and artistic contribution to the community and to recognize the achievements of one of the company's original members. We are thrilled to have Allison participate in the first year of this event and to help us gather support for Second Thought Theatre."

Second Thought State of Mind begins with cocktails and canapés at 6 p.m., followed by a moderated Q & A with Allison Tolman. Guests can expect stories about the early days of STT and a few details about the whirlwind of excitement that comes along with an Emmy nomination. At 8 p.m., guests will be invited to Fund the Mission by providing financial support to Second Thought Theatre. Cocktails and more fun will finish the evening.

"Since leaving Dallas, my career has taken me from Chicago to Calgary to Los Angeles, but I couldn't be more proud to be coming back to my artistic hometown for this event. At its root this business is about people, and I've been privileged to work with some of the best people I've ever known through Second Thought," said Tolman. "In shoddy rental garages and tiny black box theaters, in makeshift dressing rooms and corner booths at loud bars, and on the sets we lovingly built ourselves while cursing quietly - in all these places we shaped this company while this company was busy shaping us. In the last year and a half I've been blessed with incredible good fortune which has turned my career towards television and film. But everything I know about being patient and hardworking, about teamwork and humility and loyalty and miracles- every single one of those things I learned in the theatre. And Second Thought Theatre was my most beloved theatre. It will always be my home."

Tickets for Second Thought State of Mind: Allison Tolman are $50 each and may be purchased online at 2TT.co or by phone at (866) 811-4111. The event will take place at Bridge Bistro, 921 N. Riverfront Blvd, Dallas, TX 75207. Each ticket includes entry to the event, two (2) drink tickets and a light dinner. Special thanks to Jennifer and Doug Houser, honorary chairs of Second Thought State of Mind: Allison Tolman.

Born in Sugarland, Texas, Allison Tolman earned a BFA in theatrical performance from Baylor University. After graduation, she moved to Dallas where she helped found and foster the independent ensemble-based nonprofit Second Thought Theatre while also learning that the whole being an adult thing is, like, super hard. After relocating in 2009, she was accepted into Second City's Conservatory Training Program and later went on to write and perform sketch and satire with several groups throughout Chicago, most notably the monthly comedy podcast "The City Life Supplement." Throughout her career, Tolman has played a veterinary receptionist, personal assistant, children's theatre teacher, vocal coach, phone sales associate, client services representative, and dog walker--never on film, but in her actual life in order to pay her rent and be able to afford more tank tops from Target than any human actually needs. In the fall of 2013 Allison earned a starring role in FX's acclaimed miniseries "Fargo", a project which garnered her a Critic's Choice Award and an Emmy nomination. Tolman will leave her heart in Chicago this September and strike out for Hollywood with her man and her cat to see how much further this ride can take her.
