Dallas Performer, Darius-Anthony Robinson, takes the stage in FIRST solo concert
Darius-Anthony Robinson, most notable for playing ex- con, Mitch Mahoney(et. al) in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee or singing "Big, Black Lady Stopping the Show" numbers in Uptown Players annual fundraiser, Broadway Our Way, or dancing (sometimes skating) up a storm in the ensembles and chorus, more recently Xanadu at WaterTower Theatre, Darius-Anthony Robinson, can be seen performing across the metroplex and country will make his long-awaited solo concert debut Dec. 18 for a one-night-only-performance engagement at Uptown Theatre in Grand Prairie.
Accompanied by a four piece band led at the helm by Musical Director Vonda K. Bowling, Robinson will perform Dec. 18 at 8:00 PM. The evening promises classic Holiday favorites to Showtunes, Jazz to R&B, and if you've ever seen him in a cabaret setting, a few Disney Princess songs that "will have you in stitches!"
In addition to many performances around the DFW area, Robinson garnered a Chita Rivera Dance Award for his ensemble work in Pippin at Theatre Three or critic acclaim in the third regional professional production of In The Heights. You may have even caught Robinson in 2011 as the Fabulousness Expert segment host on Good Morning Texas.
When asked about the upcoming show Robinson said, "I love the holidays, especially Christmas, so I thought the first one [concert] should really be something I will enjoy and the audience will enjoy with me, I mean I will be drinking onstage if that tells you the kind of fun we're gonna have. For this show I wanted the audience to feel like a studio audience for a 1950's NBC variety show where the music will be fabulous and the dancers are all amazing performers so you know they're gonna be fierce-- and hopefully people will think I'm good too!" laughs Robinson.
