Casa Mañana is excited to bring back Fort Worth favorite Ruta Lee to star in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, October 23 - 31 at Casa Mañana Theatre. Don't miss the themed costume party following the 7:00 p.m. October 31st performance.

Lee returns to Fort Worth to star in this 1978 Tony Award-nominated hit stage play turned cinema classic. Set in fictional Gilbert, Texas, Whorehouse tells the story of Miss Mona Stangley, proprietor of the famed Chicken Ranch, as she and local sheriff Ed Earl Dodd fight to keep the doors open to the century-old brothel.

Casa Mañana's production of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas stars Lee as "Miss Mona Stangley" and Ed Dixon as "Sheriff." Lee's first Casa Mañana appearance was in 1964 in The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Some of her other shows at Casa Mañana include Hello, Dolly!, Funny Girl, Annie Get Your Gun and Steel Magnolias. She also has a large body of work in television which includes appearances on "Hogan's Heroes," "Mork & Mindy," "Three's Company" and "The Love Boat."

Similar to Lee, Dixon also has ties to Casa Mañana. Dixon received his equity card at Casa Mañana 41 years ago in a production opposite Lee. Since then he has been a fixture on Broadway for over 30 years and has appeared in 10 Broadway productions. He was most recently seen in the revival of Sunday in the Park with George. His other Broadway credits include Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Les Misérables.

Following the 7:00 p.m. October 31st performance, Casa Mañana will host a themed costume party in the Grand Lobby at Casa Mañana Theatre. The party will include dancing to the music of Professor D, a costume contest with a $100 grand prize and a cash bar. Patrons who attend a performance of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas can come to the party for free with their ticket stub. The party will begin at 9:30 p.m.
