Thirty-four years and going strong: South Coast Repertory's traditional holiday production of A Christmas Carol, complete with ghosts, vibrant costumes, dancing, endearing characters and a cast that includes 16 local school children and Hal Landon Jr. as Ebenezer Scrooge.

The show runs at SCR Nov. 29-Dec. 26, with matinee and evening performances to fit busy schedules. Tickets start at $21 for children and $26 for adults and may be purchased online at www.scr.org or at (714) 708-5555.

Orange County families have included SCR's A Christmas Carol in their winter holiday plans for more than three decades. Landon's 34 years with the production are matched by director John-David Keller.

"It's comforting to know that Hal Landon Jr. will stride across the stage as Ebenezer Scrooge, and that in the end he'll turn a somersault, come up with top hat in place, and be as loveable as he was once curmudgeonly," said Keller.

Ticket sales have been brisk since being opened to the general public over the summer.

The cast, in addition to Landon, includes Christian Barillas as Ebenezer as a Young Man; Daniel Blinkoff, Bob Cratchit; Jennifer Parsons, Mrs. Cratchit; Gregg Daniel, Jacob Marley's Ghost; Richard Doyle, the Spirit of Christmas Past; Art Koustik, Joe; Timothy Landfield, the Spirit of Christmas Present; Ann Marie Lee, Toy Lady; Erika Schindele as Belle; John-David Keller, Mr. Fezziwig; Karen Hensel, Mrs. Fezziwig; William Francis McGuire, Fred; and Nika Natalie Aydin and Erika Maggipinto sharing the role of "Tiny" Tim Cratchit.

Other young actors from SCR's Theatre Conservatory include Grace O'Brien/Clark Audrey Schwartz, Martha Cratchit; Liam McHugh/Noel Arthur Renfrow, Peter Cratchit; Jillian Tabone/Tasha Zentil, Belinda Cratchit; Lindsay E. Frazin/Shane Iverson, Fan/Teen Girl; Caitlyn Roum/Madison Nickless, Girl About Town; Dominic Brack/Jaden Fogel, Young Ebenezer/Oliver Shelley; and Christopher Delfino/Thomas McCarthy, Turkey Boy.

The ensemble includes James Macewan, Puppet Show/Mr. Topper/Spirit of Christmas Yet-to-Come; Nick Slimmer, Thomas Shelley; Xavier J. Watson, Constable/Jacob Marley as a Young Man, Poulterer; and Kirby Wilson, Elizabeth Shelley/Pursued Maiden.

The creative team includes Thomas Buderwitz, scenic design; Dwight Richard Odle, costume design; Donna and Tom Ruzika, lighting design; Dennis McCarthy, music arrangement and composer; Drew Dalzell, sound design; Dennis Castellano, vocal director; Sylvia C. Turner, choreographer; Hisa Takakuwa, assistant director; Jamie A. Tucker, stage manager; and Sue Karutz, assistant stage manager.
