The Last Days of Judas Iscariot is a touching and thought-provoking dark comedy that takes a critical look at the nature of forgiveness. The action is set in Purgatory, which has evolved over the centuries to function as a Courtroom over which Judge Frank Littleton presides. In a shocking move, an ambitious Defense Attorney, Fabiana Aziz Cunningham, has filed an appeal on behalf of one of Purgatory's most infamous residents, Judas Iscariot. She calls historical and biblical figures as witnesses in her request for mercy on behalf of the catatonic Judas, to show his role was not one of betrayal but fulfillment of prophecy, and as such he should move on to Paradise. The Court has little reason to believe her, or remain impartial.

At its heart, this show is a powerful exploration of the source and meaning of forgiveness. Does it come from others entirely, or from within, or is it a combination of both? Must we forgive ourselves before others can forgive us, vice versa, or is it only our own forgiveness that sets us free?

Beyond this, the play looks at betrayal and forgiveness in everyday life. How we can punish and condemn ourselves, or forgive and celebrate. How each and every one of us has our own ‘heavens’, ‘hells’ or ‘purgatories’ that we can throw ourselves into. In the end we are our own judges, juries and – in some cases – executioners.
